Salted Butter Candle

Salted Butter Candle

A simple idea that turns butter into a stunning, edible experience

Why is it interesting or special?

This isn’t just butter — it’s an experience. A butter candle combines flavour, aroma, and visual impact in one simple idea. As the butter slowly softens, it becomes perfectly spreadable, while the herbs release a subtle, delicious scent. It’s interactive, unique, and guaranteed to impress your guests or family.

Ingredients:

  • Butter (200–250 g recommended)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Seasonings of your choice: garlic or garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, chives, parsley, chili, bay leaf
  • Candle wick (hemp + beeswax recommended) or 1 sprig of rosemary (mainly for visual effect)

Use 1–2 herbs for the best flavour. Our recommendations:

  • Parsley + chives
  • Rosemary + garlic
  • Bay leaf + rosemary (strain this one before setting)
  • Chili + garlic

Instructions:

Finely chop your chosen herbs. Melt the butter, then mix it thoroughly with the salt and seasonings. Use a paper or plastic cup, a silicone mold, or even a cut soda can as your mold. Place a skewer or pencil across the top, then secure the candle wick over it so the other end hangs into the center of the cup. If you prefer, you can strain the butter mixture or leave it as is. Pour it into the mold and make sure the wick is centered and sticks out properly. Then place it in the freezer for about 1 hour until fully set. Once solid, remove the mold and light your butter candle.

Serving

Serve with fresh baguette, crusty bread, or vegetables. Add it to a shared platter with cheeses, cured meats, and seasonal ingredients — perfect for enjoying with family and at gatherings with friends.

Sometimes the simplest ideas create the most memorable moments. This butter candle is a perfect example — easy to make, yet beautifully unique.
